Three Generations. One Commitment to Prattville.
Gillespie Tire and Automotive has been a part of the Prattville community since 1955. What began as a small country store and service station has grown into a trusted local business that generations of families have relied on for tires, maintenance, and automotive repairs.
Our story began when Billy Gillespie opened a country store and service station along the County Highway 14 Bypass. In 1956, the business expanded to include tire sales, laying the foundation for what Gillespie Tire and Automotive would become.
In 1964, the business relocated to 132 Tichnor Avenue in downtown Prattville, where we continue to serve customers today.
Billy's son, Bill Jr., grew up around the family business, learning the importance of hard work, dependable service, and treating customers right. In 1983, he took over operations and continued building on the reputation his father had established.
When Bill Jr. was elected mayor of Prattville in 2011, his son Bobby Gillespie stepped forward to lead the business into its third generation. In 2020, Bobby's sister, Kendall, joined the team, continuing the family's tradition of service and community involvement.
Over the years, vehicles, technology, and the automotive industry have changed dramatically. But one thing has remained constant: our dedication to providing honest service, quality automotive care, and a welcoming experience for every customer who walks through our doors.
Today, Gillespie Tire and Automotive remains a locally owned family business with the same commitment that started it all in 1955.
